I am going to be installing a concrete driveway. I have tore out the excisting asphalt driveway and formed up for the concrete. How do I install the expansion joints? Do you pour the concrete in one pour and then use a saw and cut the concrete where the joints need to go in? How often do they need to be placed for a 17' by 78' driveway?

My driveway/boatramp has sunk (at the water's edge) just before the concrete ramp into the water. The area is about 8 X 10 feet. Can I have new asphalt poured on top of the old asphalt without tearing out the old stuff and laying a nrew gravel bed? How long will this fix last?
ReplyDeleteI just got a new pair of Kobe 8's and was wondering if it would be bad for me to wear them on an outdoor court. The court is asphalt. The asphalt has a few stray rocks and a little dirt on it. Also, when the ball goes off of the court, I have to run through the grass to get it. Is it worth it, or should I wear a different pair of shoes?

I am planning on going over existing shingles, so no removal is needed. I am going to purchase all the materials at a local steel supplier.
ReplyDeletei am running the open 400 at sectionals in 2 days and am seeded second, i ran a 52.25 on an asphalt track and every other team runs on a rubber track.. how much faster will i be on rubber? i will be running with spikes on rubber.. forgot what size, but i know they are no longer than half inch..
ReplyDeleteOld asphalt can be used to add to the mix of road asphalt and for other uses. How much is actually recycled, and what are the obstacles? Have you been successful in having your old shingles be recycled, instead of just having them hauled away to a landfill?

ReplyDeleteI have dug up one spot (in a line of locations...following a dead root line I am sure) and have determined the type of fungus...but I cannot find how to kill it so it won't come back. I've dug down about 8 inches and cannot find the dead root the fungus is hosting on, so I cannot pull that out. Before I cold patch the areas after I dig up the part of the fungus that is bursting out, I need to treat the areas so the fungus won't return.

ReplyDeleteI had my driveway done about a year ago and had some work done in the yard next to the driveway. I noticed that when i dug next to the driveway only about 2" of stone was there. If the contract stated 8", did i get less stone then i payed for?
ReplyDeleteAlso at the edge of driveway if it stated 3.5 inches of asphalt and i measured the asphalt at 2 inches. Did i get double screwed?

The house is 2000 sf. With the pitch of the roof I'm guessing it will take around 45 squares of asphalt shingles. The home currently has asphalt shingles over wood shingles. It will need to be redecked. Home is located in Dallas, Texas.
ReplyDeleteI haven't purchased the home yet. I have to act very quickly because it is very cheap compared to other houses in the area. I don't have time to get quotes before buying. I'm planning on going with 30 year asphalt shingles.
I'm supposed to analyze a company that my group classmates chose, they (being all guys -_- ) chose a petroleum/oil company . I don't understand any of this stuff, it frustrates me to not know or understand the meaning of this company!! Well this is what is says in its overview: "This company is engaged in the terminalling and storage of petroleum products, the transportation of petroleum products and anhydrous ammonia, and asphalt refining and fuels marketing." I googled "terminalling" and found nothing helpful, please someone help me understand these terms of what this co. is about, I would really appreciate it!!
